Please check your settings in Debut
- Open Options by clicking the Options button on the toolbar
- On the Devices under Audio, at least one of the following should be selected
- Microphone - Select this option to capture sound from a microphone; make sure that the correct device is selected from the drop-down list.
- Speakers - Select this option to capture sound produced by other applications.
*Please note that Debut needs to be launched prior to the application that you are recording for this to work properly - Mouse Clicks - Select this option to record a sound when the mouse is clicked.
*The sound is recorded even if no audio device is found in the system. - If you are trying to record sound from streaming video on your computer, you would need to use a stereo mix option (if your sound card supports this).
- In most cases, you can connect a male to male 3.5mm stereo cable from the speaker output on the computer to the Line In port.
- This will cause the audio to go out through the speaker port, then back in through the line in where it will be recorded.
How to enable the Wave Out Mix ('Stereo Mix', 'Record what you hear') in Windows 7/Vista
- From the Start Menu, open the Control Panel
- Click on Hardware and Sound
- Click on Sound
- Select the Recording tab
- Right click on the background of the tab and select Show Disabled Devices
- Find the Wave Out Mix ('Stereo Mix', 'Record What you hear') item
- Right click on it and select Enable
Open the Mac Screen Recorder panel using the shortcut: Shift-Command-5 Click on the “Record Entire Screen” button or “Record Selected Portion” button depending on whether you want to. The time leading up to it, from when I hit record and can hear myself or other sounds playing but once the person answers the call, there is no sound.
How to enable the Wave Out Mix ('Stereo Mix', 'Record What you hear') in Windows XP
- From the Start Menu, open the Control Panel
- Click on Sounds and Audio Devices
- Click on Advanced Button (first one)
- This will open the sound control panel
- Click Options
- Click Properties
- Select your input mixer device (sound card input)
- For example: Realtek HD Audio Input
- Select adjust volume for recording
- Select Stereo Mix volume control
- Click OK
- In the volume control panel that opens, check that the mute button for the 'stereo mix' volume is deselected
