Microsoft discontinued its two popular products, Office 2010 for Windows and Office 2016 for Mac. An official announcement says that the software has today received their final updates, and won't get them any longer.
The post points users to the latest available Office 2019, and also offers Microsoft 365 online services as a replacement for the traditional offline versions.

Does anyone know when the support for Office 2016 will end for Office 365? We have the Education Office 365 and Office 2016 loaded on all staff computers. The newest information I have seen is support will continue until 2023. Does this include syncing between the 365 environment and desktop apps? I'm trying to reinstall my licensed 2016 Office for home and business mac version. (I purchased the office license from MicrosoftHUP in 2016) I went through MS website and verified my email associated with my Office 2016 mac license. The link from MS listed my license for the mac. Support for Office 2016 for Mac ended on October 13, 2020. If you haven't already begun to upgrade to a newer version, we recommend you start now. Both apps have the classic perpetual licensing model that assumes that you can use them offline. They do not require a subscription.

Well, if you are not happy with newer products Microsoft is selling these days, you can stay with Office 2010, and continue using it as long as you need. Keep in mind however that sooner or later, it may become vulnerable without receiving security patches. The secure modern apps will require you to regularly pay for a subscription plan.
